Hunt information: Purim is a Jewish holiday:

Purim is the most festive of Jewish holidays, a time of prizes, noisemakers, costumes and treats. The Festival of Purim commemorates a major victory over oppression and is recounted in the Megillah, the scroll of the story of Esther. Purim takes place on the fourteenth and fifteenth days of Adar, the twelfth month of the Jewish calendar. Purim begins at sundown on March 19, 2011.

Purim in Israel :

Imagine the frivolity of Carnival, the youthful exuberance of Halloween, and the bravado of a war victory - all rolled into one day. That's how Israelis celebrate Purim.

*Purim (literally, "Lots") is celebrated on 14 Adar.

It commemorates the story of Esther and how the Jewish people were saved from destruction in Persia.  The story is read in synagogues during a festive celebration which often includes congregants wearing costumes, using noise makers and more.
